Humberside Aviation Review

Although not quite up to the high standard of the late lamented British Aviation Review, todays HAR is a far cry from the original magazine which the society produced.

In the early years of the society it was was only produced in small quantities and in A4 format on the old style alcohol duplicators.

This form of reproduction eventually became a problem for the society when the membership started to reach its peak in the mid 1980s. Each magazine involved hours of manually turning the duplicator handle to the extent that page copying had to be taken in shifts!

Eventually the photocopier came along and with it our production moved into the modern era!

Today the magazine remains a photocopied publication and, in line with many other societies, we have now moved on to the A5 format.

Humberside Air Review
A typical HAR edition

Humberside Air Review (HAR), is the society`s monthly A5 sized journal, containing between 40 and 50 pages (see picture, right).

Each issue strongly reflects both civilian and military activity in our area, as well including special reports from time-to-time on other events, such as airshows and overseas trips made by our members. It also features the comprehensive East London Aviation Society (ELAS) News Letter.

The Yorkshire and Lincolnshire regions are particularly well covered with approximately two-thirds of the magazine`s content devoted to civilian movements and registrations, whilst the remaining third covers military matters.

The magazine features the following sections:

Small Airfields
Andy Wood

In addition to the monthly HAR magazine, HAS members also receive an annual Residents Review in January of each year and are eligible to join the societies private e-group.

The Residents Review is in the same A5 format as HAR, this provides a very comprehensive run down of all the area`s local airfields (both civilian and military alike), in E.Yorks, W.Yorks, S.Yorks, N.Yorks, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.

Each Residents Review contains details of aircraft identities, airfield location details, a serial-to-location cross reference, and where possible, information on whether you will be welcome to view the aircraft or not! This publication, unlike HAR, is available to all non-members and can be purchased separately.

Subscription costs and individual prices are as follows:
